Interventional Radiology

Imaging (Radiology)

Interventional radiology (IR) is fast becoming the specialty of choice for many diagnostic and therapeutic needs. It is quick, minimally-invasive, and does not require general anesthesia – so a hospital stay is seldom necessary.

Using the most sophisticated imaging equipment, Saint Luke’s interventional radiologists thread small tools through tiny incisions to perform highly advanced procedures and to diagnose and treat a host of conditions, including:

  • Angiography
  • Biliary interventions
  • Biopsy and drainage of lesions and abscesses
  • Chemoembolization
  • Dialysis access management
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Gynecologic
  • Myelograms
  • Neurovascular
  • Nonsurgical biopsies
  • Peripheral vascular
  • Spine – including kyphoplasty vertebroplasty facet blocks, and nerve root blocks
  • Thyroid biopsy and ablation
  • Uterine fibroids and Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE)
  • Venous access – PICC and central lines, ports, and catheters
  • Venous interventions
