Whether you need a screening mammogram or treatment for breast cancer, the Saint Luke’s Hospital Breast Center offers a full range of services.

The Saint Luke’s Hospital Breast Center:

  • Is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), recognizing our ability to provide the highest level of care in treating the full spectrum of breast disease
  • Staffs physicians dedicated to breast imaging and surgery
  • Is a comprehensive diagnostic facility

Advanced breast care services

The Breast Center is a comprehensive diagnostic facility offering the most advanced technologies for diagnosing and treating breast cancer. These include:

  • High-resolution imaging that makes early detection easier, including:
    • Full-field digital mammography
    • Diagnostic mammography
    • Diagnostic ultrasound
  • Saint Luke's Hospital Screening Breast CenterComputer-aided detection, or CAD, which analyzes mammography images and identifies suspicious lesions to improve breast cancer detection
  • Stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound-guided biopsy, and MRI-guided biopsy, which allow doctors to sample breast tissue through a balloon catheter instead of performing surgery
  • Mammosite® and SAVI™ targeted radiation therapy, which deliver radiation to the inside of the breast through a balloon catheter, reducing radiation’s effects on healthy tissue

Meet the team

At the Breast Center, a team of professionals works together to coordinate patient care. Team members include:

  • Saint Luke's Hospital Screening Breast Center changing rooms Dedicated breast care specialists
  • Radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, and radiation and medical oncologists from Saint Luke's Cancer Institute who specialize in the latest imaging, surgical, and diagnostic techniques
  • Board-certified genetic counselors who evaluate patients' family histories and identify genetic risk factors  

Breast cancer education and support

The Breast Center offers classes to prepare newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families for what lies ahead. Topics range from choosing prosthetics and changing your eating habits to talking about your feelings.

Convenient, comfortable breast care  

The Breast Center makes health care easy with:

  • Same-day scheduling when available
  • Nurse navigators who help patients schedule appointments, get insurance questions answered, and navigate through breast cancer treatment to survivorship


  • Screening Center: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Diagnostic Center: Monday-Friday,  7 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

    Get the basics you need for successful breastfeeding. This class includes techniques and tips to get you off to a good start and ideas to help fit breastfeeding into your lifestyle. Birth partners and other family members are encouraged to attend.

    With the Saint Luke’s Nutrition for Cancer Survivorship class, you will see how smart meal choices can support recovery and improve symptoms that are affecting daily functioning and quality of life. In this class, our registered dietitian will teach you the pillars of diet for cancer prevention and management.

    Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City - Peet Center Conference Room

    During All About Birth, we will help you prepare for what you might expect during your labor, birth and postpartum. Our class combines interaction with our knowledgeable childbirth educators and online resources for your continued learning. Please bring two pillows, and a blanket.  Dress comfortably for floor exercises. $60/Up to 2 people may attend.
