Hedrick Medical Center

We want you!

Although we employ over 300 staff, we need volunteers to provide the best care possible. As part of the Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary, you will touch lives on a daily basis, ensuring that Hedrick continues to be the best place to get care.

Gift Box

The Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary operates The Gift Box in the lobby of the hospital as a source of income for its annual scholarships and projects. Gifts for newborns to adults, as well as fresh flowers, are available in all price ranges.

What is the Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary?

The Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary has been making a difference in the lives of patients since 1954.

Since the beginning, this dedicated group of volunteers have been partners with employees and staff of Hedrick Medical Center. Some are involved because of a personal experience with Hedrick and want to give back. Others simply want to give back to the community.

Our volunteers have a wide range of responsibilities throughout Hedrick that complement their interests and skills. Members represent many age groups and parts of the community – parents, grandparents, business people, long-time volunteers, and youth. We would not be the hospital we are today without the efforts of our wonderful volunteers!

How can I join our volunteer team?

The requirements are few and the rewards are many. All you need is the drive to help others, a friendly and flexible personality, and a reliable, dependable nature. As part of the auxiliary, you’ll experience: a friendly volunteer environment, jobs that suit your interests and skills, the satisfaction of helping others, and a free meal in the Garden Café during your shift.

Scholarship program

The Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity for area residents. Students already enrolled in or admitted to a degree program in a health care field are eligible for the scholarship.

Each scholarship is $500 and requires that recipients share their grades and/or school status if requested by the Auxiliary. A student may apply for and receive this award each year throughout his/her degree program.

The application states, “Candidates must have been accepted into an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university health care program. Please attach a copy of the letter of acceptance from the college or university you are attending.”

Applications include biographical information, a health care program letter of acceptance, a short essay, and two letters of recommendation.

The HMC Auxiliary Scholarship is open to anyone meeting the above criteria whose permanent address has a zip code that begins with 646.

The Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 for the purpose of encouraging qualified individuals to pursue or enrich a career in the health care field. Scholarships are awarded annually. To date, over $79,000 scholarships have been awarded to area students.

Scholarship applications for 2017 must be postmarked or received by Friday, May 12.

Applications can be downloaded here (PDF) or picked up at the Hedrick Medical Center Gift Box (gift shop). Any questions can be directed to Lindy Chapman, Auxiliary Liaison at 660-214-8107 or
