Saint Luke’s Health System, Western Missouri Medical Center and the Johnson County (MO) Community Health Services Home Health Program, are seeking area senior citizens to participate in their latest program, Western MO Health Care to Go!, which aims to help improve the management of chronic disease and healthcare through the use of technology.

The Verizon Foundation has partnered with these three organizations to provide 4G LTE powered tablets and biometric devices to rural seniors who have limited access to healthcare. This program will provide this underserved senior population with necessary educational tools to promote overall wellness and allow the centers to remotely measure and monitor their health in order to improve their conditions.
“Western MO Healthcare to Go! allows us to use the latest technology to encourage patients with both chronic and acute conditions to actively participate in their medical care,” said Steve Kropp, executive director of eHealth and Outreach for Saint Luke’s Health System. “The technology provided by Verizon will enable Saint Luke’s clinicians and specialists to partner with healthcare providers in Johnson County and with Western Missouri Medical Center to bridge the miles between patient and providers.”
