KCTV: Colon cancer on the rise in younger adults, study says

Colorectal cancer kills 50,000 Americans each year, making it the third most deadly cancer in the United State. The good news: It’s often preventable, and the chances get better with early detection.

A man thought his issues going to the bathroom weren’t anything to worry about until he noticed blood in his stool. He became a statistic of an alarming new study that says younger people are being diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He was treated and is now cancer free. “These are the patients that don't have a family history," said Dr. Ashiq Masood, Saint Luke’s Cancer Institute Oncologist "This is not familiar.”
