Financial Assistance - Charity Care Policy |
 |
Saint Luke’s Health System provides financial assistance for the underinsured and uninsured who meet established criteria and demonstrate an identified need.
A patient meeting criteria is defined as one who has demonstrated that he/she is unable to meet his or her medical expenses. The qualified patient may or may not have an income, and may or may not be covered by insurance. Each patient’s documentation is evaluated individually using the Federal Poverty Limit as a guide.
Situations where financial assistance will be considered include but are not limited to:
- Uninsured patients who do not have the ability to pay
- Insured patients who do not have the ability to pay for portions not covered by insurance
- Deceased patients with no estates
- Patients involved in a catastrophic illness or injury, which causes serious financial hardship
Exclusions may apply in situations involving certain elective procedures, and out-of-network services that were available in-network.
A Saint Luke’s Health System Patient Accounts representative can provide assistance through an eligibility screening process that identifies the benefits and programs patients qualify for. For information on how we can assist, please call the Patient Accounts Office at your Saint Luke’s Health System health care facility. Contact Us
