In 2006, over 200 Saint Luke's research projects were sponsored by the National Institute's of Health; the American Heart Association; pharmaceutical and device partners; as well as the Saint Luke's Hospital Foundation.
Thousands of Kansas City area patients participated in over 250 clinical trials currently underway at Saint Luke's.
Seventy-four practicing clinicians are also involved in clinical research.
New Investigational Procedure
Patients who are considered high risk or non-operable for conventional open heart valve surgery for severe aortic stenosis now have a new option available only through Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute. The first procedure in the investigative PARTNER clinical trial was performed Sept. 10, 2008. more information
