Requirements:
  • Applicants who wish to be considered for program placement must meet the following requirements:
    • 18 years of age or older
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Submission of a completed application packet
    • Proof of U.S. citizenship
    • Submission of immunization record
    • Written references from 2 non-family sources
    • Ability to attend classes for 5 weeks, 8 hours/day

Overview
  • Phlebotomists must be knowledgeable in both theory and technique. The Phlebotomy Education Program at Saint Luke’s Hospital instructs each student in all phases of phlebotomy to include: a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology, the laboratory departments and organization, and in-depth knowledge of specimen collection equipment and techniques. The Program
  • Saint Luke's offers a NAACLS* approved program in Phlebotomy Education and is committed to thoroughly train qualified applicants in the skills and techniques necessary to become valued members of the profession. A phlebotomist must possess traits important in any health care professional including: compassion, empathy, discretion, integrity, honesty, dependability, communication skills, and confidentiality. In addition, a phlebotomist needs to be able to problem solve, have good manual dexterity, pay attention to detail, be organized, efficient, and accurate. Employment opportunities for phlebotomists exist in hospitals, physician's offices, clinics, nursing homes, clinical laboratories, insurance companies, and various other health care settings.

Estimated Fees
  • Application Fee: $25 non-refundable
  • Matriculation Fee: $100 non-refundable
  • Tuition: $1,000
  • Books: $80
  • Tuition and book fees are payable before the first day of class. Lab coats will be loaned to students at no charge. Uniform, room, board, and other living expenses are the responsibility of the student. The refund policy is defined in the Policy Manual distributed to all students on the first day of attendance. Financial Aid is not available from the hospital. Fees may be changed without prior notice.
