Phlebotomists must be knowledgeable in both theory and technique. The Phlebotomy Education Program at Saint Luke's Hospital instructs each student in all phases of phlebotomy to include: a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology, the laboratory departments and organization, and in depth knowledge of specimen collection equipment and techniques.
