The purpose of this one year fellowship will be to train a young and promising physician to learn the techniques of outcomes research as it relates to the understanding of disease processes, quality assessment, and the rendering of healthcare services to optimizing patients' health. During the course of this training, analyses of existing datasets and small innovative projects will be conducted so as to advance the field of outcomes research and to further clarify the need for innovative therapies in the treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease.
John A. Spertus, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.C. will serve as the primary mentor and has secured the services of colleagues to guide and help facilitate the fellow's training. In addition, the fellow will be encouraged to enroll in a novel, interdisciplinary Masters Program in Outcomes Research, which is being planned by the University of Missouri – Kansas City. These didactic training activities will complement the proposed research experience.
