Since 1979, when Crittenton opened the first children's psychiatric hospital in Kansas City, it has cared for patients ages 4 to 18 suffering from serious psychiatric problems.
Each patient admitted to the secure, 54-bed hospital receives:
- Care from a board-certified psychiatrist
- Treatment from a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health professionals
- 24-hour supervision from a registered nurse
Our behavioral health team helps patients understand their problems and learn to manage their emotions and behaviors. This includes learning:
- Anger control
- Conflict resolution
- Communication skills
Crittenton also features a pre-adolescent program, where young children receive separate therapy and treatment from older adolescents.
