Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Yoakam has practiced in the Leavenworth/Lansing area since 2007. Her areas of interest include: Women’s health, Pediatric care, and Wellness exams. She enjoys caring for families–babies to grandparents–throughout all stages of their lives. She strives to provide comprehensive medical care while engaging her patients in their health plan.
Dr. Yoakam is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. She is the Co-Medical Director of the Saint Luke’s Cushing Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation and Chemotherapy programs. She serves as a member of the Ambulatory and Inpatient Medicine Evidence Based Practice Teams with Saint Luke’s Care.
Dr. Yoakam completed a Women’s Health fellowship at University Hospitals in Cleveland following her Family Medicine Residency at Mercy/Mayo Residency in Des Moines, Iowa where she was also a Chief Resident. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine spending time at both the Kansas City and Wichita Campuses. Dr. Yoakam received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Rockhurst University while completing the Honors Program.
Her research interests include postpartum depression, family medicine, and rural practice. She is currently a volunteer faculty for the University of Kansas School of Medicine hosting fourth year medical students in their rural rotation.
Outside of work, Dr. Yoakam enjoys attending her children’s sporting events, cooking, and volunteering for her church’s activities with her husband.
